A residência decorreu em Setembro de 2023 e a inauguração da peça (desenvolvida com 17 pessoas, com idades compreendidas entre os 45 e os 82 anos), na Vila do Torrão, Alentejo, no dia 7 de Outubro. Actualmente vivemos numa era de constantes mudanças e muitas pessoas sentem-se perdidas, sem propósito. O meu objectivo com esta residência foi através da utilização de uma técnica tão Portuguesa do séc. XVI, tapeçaria em ponto de Arraiolos, que exploro diariamente, dar-lhes um novo sentido.
Desenvolvemos juntos uma tapeçaria, em comunidade, em que partilhámos histórias, tradições, arte, saberes ancestrais e amor. Esta experiência marcou uma troca intergeracional, inspirou a preservação e inovação da nossa arte e património.

The residency took place in September 2023, and the unveiling of the artwork (created with 17 individuals, aged between 45 and 82), in the village of Torrão, Alentejo, occurred on October 7th. We currently inhabit an era of constant flux, where many individuals feel adrift, lacking purpose. My aim with this residency was to imbue fresh significance using a quintessentially Portuguese technique from the 16th century, Arraiolos tapestry, which I engage with daily.
Together, we crafted a tapestry as a community, where we shared narratives, traditions, art, ancestral wisdom, and affection. This experience fostered intergenerational exchange, inspiring the preservation and evolution of our artistic legacy and cultural heritage.
